Large 14 inch Slipware Platter
Handmade Folk Art Pottery made in Pennsylvania. Inspired by Pennsylvania German pottery from the late 1600s through the 1800s. 
 
Signed by me and dated May 17, 2025, "sunny today" 
14" wide, 9 3/4" tall, 1" deep. Gift boxed.

This piece is handmade in a 250+ year-old stone house.  I employ tools and techniques used by the early Pennsylvania German potters - 18th through 19th centuries.

  • * Hand washing is recommended. The clay is porous, just like an unglazed terra cotta flower pot, and soaks up water quickly.

    * Dry on a rack so air can circulate around the pottery.

    * Place in a cold oven and then turn the oven on to avoid thermal shocks.
